I like to draw me sometimes too. I'm usually mysterious.

one more for today. . .
I don't scan my work much, I need to get more into that habit. In looking through a flashdrive of what I have scanned I found this little number. I don't work in colour as much as I ought to so here's one I did in colour. Actually it's mostly grey but there's at least some colour in it. It's just a big goofy monster roaring and spitting.

S.A.S
Apparently I haven't posted in ages. To rectify this oversight I am posting. These are just some sketches of a character I randomly sketched and liked enough to sketch again. I tried to pattern him after the British SAS agents with the cool gas masks but I also gave him the classic World War I and II boot coverings. Drawing is fun!

Current predicament
I haven't posted anything in a good long time. That's mostly because I've been working doing illustrations for children's educational material. I've also been working on drawing a comic book. I'll post some of that when I get it scanned but for now here's a sample of the children's material. This is a page for Pre-K kids.

Monster walking
I like Flash, it's a fun program. Here's a rough animation of a monster walking. At some point I hope to trace it out and actually make it into a cartoon. Until then enjoy it in all it's roughness.

Surly banner
Another Banner! This one's for one of my favorite breweries, Surly Brewing Co. They're brilliant and they make the best beer in the world: Surly Furious. Click on the banner, it links to the Surly site. Just like a real banner!!

Cygnus banner
Now I'm making web banners! Here's one for Cygnus Aeronautics. This is, of course, assuming that they had the internets back in 1963. But why not, it's NASA!
smooth run cycle
And here's the same run cycle after I traced over it in Flash and took out all the roughness. Dig.
rough run cycle
Here's hoping this works. I do animations. This is the rough pencil version of a run cycle I did for a big ol' monster I drew.

These are the main characters of the whole Cyngus Venture. For these images I started with some sketches in my drawing pad, scanned them in and then traced them out in Illustrator. I still have some shading and junk to put in but since I haven't posted in a while I figured I put these up now. And then probably again later.

I'm slowly working on this Cygnus project just because it's fun. These are the name badges for Cygnus Aeronautics featuring their start test pilots Jami and Johnny Rocket. The full story behind this whole project centers on Cygnus Aeronautics, a paramilitary rocket and flight testing corporation. It's set in 1963 and our goal is to beat the Russians in the space race. Cygnus is working on an advanced rocket pack capable carrying a single person in a suit into orbital flight. Anyway, it's all only a reason for me to design stuff.

I feel like I haven't had any sketches on here for a while. So here's some sketches. This is a self-portrait I drew while I was working at Target.com in the City Center. Apparently I wasn't having the greatest day judging from the smile on my face as I'm falling!
And this is a picture I drew just for the fun of it. I liked this picture so much that I made her a character in one of my comic books.

I'm working on some branding for a company I made up just for fun. It's called Cygnus Aeronautics, a para-military aeronautics company set in 1963 towards the beginning of the space race. It might take a while to get everything I want for this project up and running as I feel like I'm working on like a dozen things right now. At some point I'm going to make a website. This is the teaser image I'm going to toss up online until I get the rest up and running.

And one more for today. This is an intermediate version of a comic book style poster I did for the Timberwolves. It was to highlight the four players who were in the 2007 NBA All-Star Game in Las Vegas; Kevin Garnet, Mark Blount, Ricky Davis and Mike James. I'll put the actual poster up on here soon.
And yet more design stuff! These are for a publishing company called Radius 7 that a friend of mine started. I did the logo for him and then some images for a book he wrote called Foreign and Domestic. You can check out stuff about the book here: www.radius7.com That should explain the goofy flag photo. Since it's a book about war I was trying to go for a grainy World War II look for the image.

Here are the covers of a couple of comics I've written (with some help from my friend Henderson) and drawn. I've started posting the actual comics on Web Comics Nation, here's the link: http://www.webcomicsnation.com/luckypennycomics. So check it out, I'm going to update that today as well.

from the beginning. . .
I'm blogging now. But for a very specific reason. Not to lay my delightful thoughts out for the internet viewing publics scrutinization or entertainment. No, this is going to be my portfolio blog, I can keep folks posted on what I've done and what I'm currently working on. It's going to be fun!
